Setting a New Course for Island County Government
Why I am Running for Office
We are at a crossroads in history where we have reached the limits of affordability of government. We must establish a clear and focused set of priorities for Island County. My view is that those priorities must be led by public safety and security. Difficult decisions are coming down the road and logic and science must be applied to all of the challenges.
We have a remarkable environment to protect, roads to build and maintain, laws to enforce, public health to ensure, and justice to render. The trend of Island County government has been to discount the place of human beings in the environment. We must not lose sight of the fact that government's priority must be to protect the human environment and our rights as citizens and property owners. There is a need for balance in our approach to protecting nature.
I was Commissioned from the ranks in 1978 and retired as a Commander (Nuclear Submarines) after 26 years of service. I am a Mechanical and Nuclear Engineer and well versed in the sciences of chemistry and physics with multi-billion dollar budgeting experience. I am also a proven leader, tested decision maker, and a seasoned manager. I will steer Island County government to a more accountable, less intrusive, and more responsive course.
